The majority of regular Sunday morning church-goers at SUMC spend an hour or so after the service chatting with old friends and making new ones while enjoying coffee and a variety of food items (some of us even using that as our Sunday lunchtime). It’s a totally volunteer effort that pretty much runs itself thanks to a smallish crew of people who rotate through at a rate of about every two months.
We realize that not everyone who attends feels that they can take on the responsibility of hosting, but we’ve recently discovered that advertising the first Sunday of each month as a POTLUCK, a group of people bringing a single item can provide all we need. This would be a good way that more of us who depend upon coffee hour after church can participate. So… be on the lookout near the end of each month for an announcement that the first Sunday of the next month will be a POTLUCK and look around for something in your fridge or pantry to donate to the event.
